Michelle Grady - Instructor
 |
Originally born in Chicago and raised in Tennessee, Michelle Grady brings a diverse dancing background to Ballroom Dance Clubs of Atlanta. Michelle started participating in sporty-styles of dance like pom squad and modern in pre-k. In high school, she practiced tap and African dance styles, and enjoyed teaching herself new moves. Michelle began dancing ballet in college at Clark Atlanta University, where she earned a dance scholarship. She went on to finish school in her hometown at the University of Memphis.
As a high school student, Michelle formed dance groups and even did performances with her friends. With such a love for dancing and meeting people through dance, she even booked music videos and commercials. In Memphis there was not a big ballroom dancing scene, but in 2006, Michelle later moved to Atlanta and found Ballroom Dance Clubs.
Even though dance has been a life-long hobby of Michelle’s she didn’t expect to make a career out of it—she was leaning more toward business or accounting. Now, she couldn’t be happier. She says the parts of her job she loves most are meeting new people, getting out of her bubble and being able to express herself. Although she can’t pinpoint her favorite dance to teach at Ballroom Dance Clubs of Atlanta, she likes that each dance style has its own feel allowing dancers to express themselves in diverse ways.
In her spare time, Michelle enjoys working with non-profit organizations and hopes to one day start her own organization involving dance. She is also a patron of visual and other types of performing arts.
